A registered nurse is on duty and/or on call during the regular academic semesters. The nurse is available for consultation, treatment and referral. Students are not required to receive treatment from the university nurse, and they are free to seek aid elsewhere at their own expense. Parents or guardians are notified in the event of a major illness or injury.
Students at UPIKE are protected by an accident-only insurance plan. Health insurance may be purchased on an individual basis through the Office of Student Services.

The nurse’s station is located in the Coal Building Room 515. Please use the rear entrance, nurse’s office is located on your right.
UPIKE’s ACE (Academic and Cultural Enrichment) Program can help you by providing comprehensive student support from orientation to graduation. ACE is a federally-funded TRIO program focusing on the success of first-generation students, ACE’s goal is to improve student academic performance and increase retention and graduation rates while educating students on the importance of financial wellness.
UPIKE offers a flex meal plan for students. All residents are required to participate in the meal plan.
Exemption from the plan due to special dietary needs will be granted only if the food service is incapable of complying with a doctor’s instructions.
The City View Café is located in the Coal Building. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are made-to-order at this all-you-care-to-eat location. Choose international entrees, grill, deli, salad bar and more. The Café is also open to the general public.
In the Health Professions Education building students will find a quick service Chic-Fil-A, Einstein Brothers and P.O.D. Market. HPE dining services is also available to the general public.
Students, as well as the community, can enjoy lunch and dinner at Table 99 on the ground floor of Bears Tower. Table 99 serves bistro-style food and Starbucks beverages.

The Disability Resource Center assists in coordinating accommodations for students so that every student with disabilities has equal access to actively participate in all facets of the educational experience at UPIKE.

UPIKE’s Office of Information and Technology Services supports student accounts, networking and computer usage on campus.

UPIKE provides rooms to support nursing parents upon returning to work, school, or campus. Any nursing parent who is a UPIKE community member can use either of the convenient mother’s rooms. Each room offers a clean, secure, and private space for parents during their time on campus. All rooms are equipped with comfortable seating, electrical outlets, and refrigerators. Below is a list of the rooms and details about location, access, and accommodations for each. Please contact the appropriate room manager for registration prior to use.

Campus parking is managed by the Office of Public Safety. Parking is a privilege which entails certain responsibilities. It is the vehicle operator’s responsibility to know and abide by the university’s parking regulations as well as state and local laws.

UPIKE offers cardboard recycling across campus. Students can drop off flattened cardboard boxes and products at any drop-off location.

The Office of Business Affairs, located in the Administration Building on the ground floor, issues student ID cards during GROWL orientation.
Students are responsible for the security of their ID cards and should never loan cards to other students.
The student ID card allows students to access their residence hall, dine in the City View Cafe’ and use Bear Bucks at the food court in the Health Professions Education Building.
Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately to the Office of Business Affairs.
Upward Bound is a federally funded program on the campus of the University of Pikeville. Upward Bound is dedicated specifically to helping students in Eastern Kentucky succeed in high school and at the postsecondary level.
Upward Bound was created by the 1965 Higher Education Act and is one of eight programs collectively referred to as “Federal TRiO Programs.”
UPIKE’s Upward Bound program began in 1975 and has helped thousands of students gain new experiences and develop academically and culturally in a safe and secure environment.
