THRIVE Counseling Center
The UPIKE THRIVE Counseling Center provides short-term mental health services, including personal counseling, group counseling, consultation and referrals. Services are free and confidential for all currently enrolled UPIKE students.

Humana Student Assistance Program
KYCOM offers its students a no-fee, comprehensive, and confidential Student Assistance Program to help KYCOM students maintain their emotional well-being and behavioral health while managing the often-competing demands of medical school, relationships, health, family and life in general. The purpose of this service is to help medical students function at their best. Students can confidentially access professional counseling professionals on a 24/7 basis via a toll-free phone number (1-855-270-3349) or online at www.humana.com/sap – (username: bears02, password: upike). If indicated, students will be referred by these counseling professionals to local mental healthcare providers for personal, legal and financial counseling sessions.
Food Insecurity
KYCOM Food Pantry
Food in the KYCOM Food Pantry is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis – the pantry food is provided through generous donations from individuals and departments across UPIKE and in the community.
Location: Coal Building, Mezzanine
Items available are hygiene products (shampoo, soap, feminine hygiene products), single-servings of soup and pasta, canned soups and vegetables, shelf-stable items (rice, pasta, etc.) and snacks. Items in the pantry are constantly rotating.
Fitness Center
The UPIKE Fitness Center opened in spring 2021 and is available exclusively to UPIKE students, faculty and staff through key card access. The Fitness Center is open seven days a week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. The center is equipped with the latest fitness equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes, rowing machine, etc. and a cardio room where students can participate in workouts hosted by FitnessOnDemand.

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. (seven days a week with the exception of when the university is closed and two weeks for cleaning and repairs)
On Campus Nurse Station
A registered nurse is on duty and/or on-call during academic semesters. The nurse is available for consultation, treatment and referral. Students are not required to receive treatment from the university nurse, and they are free to seek aid elsewhere at their own expense. Parents or guardians are notified in the event of a major illness or injury.
