Appalachia has some of the worst oral health outcomes. To address the mountains’ growing oral health crisis, the University of Pikeville will open the Tanner College of Dental Medicine in 2026.

We need your support to help make it happen!

  • Expanding Access to Care – The Tanner College of Dental Medicine will provide comprehensive dental services to underserved populations, including pediatric and special needs patients, improving oral health outcomes across Appalachia.
  • Training the Next Generation of Dentists – Our state-of-the-art program will educate and prepare skilled, compassionate dental professionals who are committed to serving rural and medically underserved communities.
  • Advancing Community Wellness – Through innovative care, outreach programs, and clinical partnerships, we are dedicated to addressing oral health disparities and enhancing overall health in
    Eastern Kentucky and beyond.
  • Leveraging Cutting-Edge Technology – Equipped with state-of-the-art digital imaging, 3D printing, and advanced treatment tools, our clinic will enhance patient care, increase efficiency, and help bridge the gap in desperately needed dental services.

Naming Opportunities

The digital lab will serve as the technological heart of TCDM, preparing students to practice in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Equipped with emerging dental technologies, this space will provide hands-on training that bridges innovation and patient care. A naming gift for the digital lab represents a transformative investment in the future of modern dentistry and clinical excellence.

$35,000 each

These welcoming and highly functional spaces play an essential role in the patient and student experience. Large waiting areas will offer comfort and reassurance to patients and families while reflecting TCDM’s professionalism and compassion. Support labs will provide critical space for instruction, preparation and collaboration, directly enhancing clinical education and patient outcomes. Naming opportunities in these areas recognize donors who value both excellence in care and educational support.

$30,000 each

Small waiting areas provide patients and visitors with a comfortable, calming environment as they prepare for treatment and consultation. Thoughtfully designed to support a positive patient experience, these spaces reflect TCDM’s commitment to compassionate care. A named waiting area offers meaningful recognition while supporting patient-centered dental education.

$15,000 each

Operatories serve as the primary clinical training environment where students will develop the skills, confidence and professionalism required for patient care. These treatment spaces are central to hands-on education, allowing future dental professionals to apply classroom learning in a real-world clinical setting. Naming an operatory demonstrates support for practical training, clinical excellence and the next generation of healthcare providers.

$10,000 each

  • Student Locker Room
  • Faculty Grading Rooms
  • Faculty Patient Simulator
  • Dean Suite Collaboration Space

These essential spaces will support the daily academic, instructional and collaborative functions of TCDM. From student preparation areas to faculty evaluation rooms and leadership collaboration spaces, each area will contribute to a culture of excellence, mentorship and professional development. Naming opportunities at this level provide visible recognition while directly supporting the people and operations that drive student success.

$6,000 each

Patient simulators and breakout rooms will provide flexible, interactive learning environments where students strengthen clinical judgment, communication and technical skills. These spaces encourage collaboration, small-group instruction and experiential learning that prepares students for real-world patient care.
