Institutional Planning and Evaluation

Beginning in 2019, the institutional effectiveness (Section 7.1) process matured into an integrative process that brings all units together to focus on accomplishing the University’s strategic plan. Concurrently, administrative and educational units maintain comprehensive assessments of measurable outcomes and report results and strategies for improvement annually.

Institutional Effectiveness

The University of Pikeville engages in ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide research-based planning and evaluation processes that (1) incorporate a systematic review of institutional mission, goals, and outcomes; (2) result in continuing improvement in institutional quality; and (3) demonstrate the institution is effectively accomplishing its mission. The institution uses a process which includes a systematic review that results in continuous improvement. Performance indicators reflect the extent to which UPIKE is accomplishing its current lead objectives.

UPIKE Strategic Plan 2022

This document was the culmination of hundreds of hours of conversation, planning, writing, editing and rewriting and represents the culmination of the planning phase. Implementation of the plan is the next, more difficult part of the process. The document itself begins with a narrative preamble that sets the stage for the strategic vision statement, goals and objectives. The conclusion suggests next steps for implementation that include shifting the work of some of our committees on campus and on the board. The last page is a succinct set of summary statements that can be easily committed to memory. Even though the narrative contains a great deal of detail, the summary is a set of concepts that can be conveyed by anyone in the UPIKE family to anyone who might want to know what we are doing.   (Approved by Board of Trustees, May, 19, 2017)
