UPIKE’s Coleman College of Business presents ‘The Winning Edge’ with Greg White

 Greg White, motivational speaker, consultant and former Pikeville College basketball coach, will be the featured speaker for the University of Pikeville’s (UPIKE) Coleman College of Business Speakers and Leadership Series. The event, “The Winning Edge,” is set for Wednesday, April 17, at 11 a.m. on the seventh floor of UPIKE’s Health Professions Education Building.

A native of W.Va., White was a highly recruited high school basketball player. During his collegiate basketball career at Marshall University, he started for 113 consecutive games as point guard and was honored as a member of the 1,000 points club, two-time MVP, a three-time All-Southern Conference selection and received many other accolades. White was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for his alma mater in 1993.

In addition to his career as an athlete, White became the youngest head coach in the country at age 25 for then Pikeville College. After many other successful head coaching positions, White joined longtime friend Jeff Schneider in a premier grass-roots basketball tournament company, Big Shots. Known for attracting top-notch talent, Big Shots has proven success in not only teaching basketball fundamentals but also teaching athletes families about the college recruiting process.

In 2010, White began his international speaking firm, Greg White Speaks. As a sought-after motivational speaker focusing on goal-setting and performance, White has lent his expertise to company’s like Reebok, BMW and Converse as well as hundreds of civic organizations.
