UPIKE’s annual scholarship golf tournament provides growth in educational opportunity for its students

The Branham-Justice UPIKE 32nd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament was recently held at the Green Meadow Country Club (GMCC) in Pikeville to benefit student scholarship opportunities. Alumni and friends enjoyed a day out on the greens to help a worthy cause during morning and afternoon sessions. Twenty-four teams enjoyed the hospitality and the beauty of GMCC’s private course.

This year, the tournament raised over $45,000 in scholarship funds from the generous gifts of the UPIKE donors that many students depend upon to help further their education.

Without the support of sponsors, the annual tournament wouldn’t be the success that it is.

This year’s Naming Sponsors were Doug and Felicia Branham; Gold Sponsors were ARC Administrators and Gearheart Communications; and Silver Sponsors were Baird & Baird, PSC, Community Trust Bank, Elliott Companies and US Bank.

UPIKE President Burton J. Webb, Ph.D., had an opportunity to visit with each team on hole number six with the tournament’s first-ever Presidential Putt.

Golfers enjoyed meals and snacks provided by Aramark, Greek Puff Bites, McDonald’s and Texas Roadhouse. Golf carts were sponsored by Food City; Photo Sponsor provided by Double Kwik; East KY Beverage provided the Beverage Sponsorship; face mask provided by Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center; The Men’s Corner provided the proximity awards and Fully Promoted for providing gift bags.

Giovanni’s Pizza of Pikeville took home first-place, second-place was Elliott Companies and third-place was US Bank. Winners were presented with several prizes sponsored by Sturgill Turner, PLLC and J. Smith Lanier & Co.
