The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) has received accreditation for its Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) program from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), marking a significant milestone for nursing education in Eastern Kentucky.
UPIKE is the first institution in Pike County to obtain ACEN accreditation for all of its nursing programs, signifying the university’s dedication to excellence in preparing the next generation of nurses.
In addition, UPIKE’s RN-BSN program has received renewed accreditation from ACEN, reaffirming the program’s continued adherence to rigorous national standards. The RN-BSN accreditation was granted for eight years, and the ADN accreditation will be up for renewal after five years.
Achieving ACEN accreditation indicates that UPIKE’s Elliott School of Nursing maintains well-defined educational objectives. By meeting ACEN’s standards and criteria, UPIKE’s nursing programs demonstrate that their graduates are ready to enter the workforce and contribute to improved health outcomes in the communities they serve.
Karen Damron, Ph.D., RN, dean of the College of Nursing and Human Services, said the achievement reflects the dedication of faculty, staff and students.
“This accreditation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our nursing faculty, whose commitment to excellence made this achievement possible,” Damron said. “Earning ACEN accreditation for our ADN program, alongside the renewal of our RN-BSN program, reflects the countless hours our faculty have invested in developing a high-quality educational experience that prepares our students to serve their communities with skill and compassion.”
