UPIKE hosts inaugural Michigan alumni event

University of Pikeville (UPIKE) leadership recently traveled to Livonia, Mich., a Detroit suburb, to host the first UPIKE Alumni and Friends dinner event in Michigan.

President Burton J. Webb and First Lady Kay Webb welcomed UPIKE and Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) alumni and friends to an intimate dinner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse. President Webb spoke on the importance of staying connected, and he invited attendees to visit campus any time.

Mary Claire Cotner, D.O., (KYCOM ’21) and her fiancé Ray Kim attended the dinner and sent a note of thanks to UPIKE for coordinating the event.

“It was such a nice experience and a great reminder about our KYCOM network and family. We can get so busy in our careers, so it is nice to take a step back and spend time with other alumni, the people who have the same roots as you,” said Cotner. “The event was really wonderful!”

The university’s alumni network includes more than 12,000 active members who continue to show their Bear pride and commitment to supporting the UPIKE community at memorable alumni events and activities hosted throughout the United States.
