UPIKE hosts alumni and friends in Atlanta

The University of Pikeville recently held its final event of the year in Atlanta. Alumni and friends joined President Burton J. Webb and Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations David Hutchens for a special gathering. All were treated to dinner at The Capital Grille, located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.

Although 1951 alumna Norma Edwards had hosted Webb and Hutchens in Atlanta in previous years, this was the first alumni event she had attended. She brought her husband Bryan and son Steve along to enjoy the evening with her. They were delighted to hear the news shared about UPIKE’s growth and success.

“The leadership of David and Burton is amazing. Everyone at UPIKE is so mission-oriented and caring about Eastern Kentucky people and the students who go there,” said Edwards. “You can feel their sincerity when discussing the university, and I am inspired to donate and motivated to become more involved.”

Edwards describes The Capital Grille as one of Atlanta’s premier restaurants and plans on attending more alumni events in the future.

“This was an unforgettable experience. I don’t know that we have ever had a nicer meal or warmer reception anywhere,” said Edwards. “UPIKE is exceptional, and my husband and I were blown away! The event was very inviting, and I felt so honored and pleased to be there.”

The university’s alumni network includes more than 12,000 active members who continue to show their Bear pride and commitment to support the UPIKE community at memorable alumni events and activities hosted throughout the United States.
