UPIKE Alumni Association hosts event at Legends game in Lexington

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) Alumni Association hosted a fun night of baseball on August 21 at Lexington Legends Ballpark in Lexington.

Former UPIKE baseball and softball players, along with their family and friends, joined in the festivities on the Pepsi Party Deck. Guests enjoyed refreshments and photos with Legends mascot, Big L.

“We were excited to host an event that would be fun for families with children of all ages,” said Director of Alumni Relations Lisa Blackburn. “Our alumni look forward to these special events and opportunities to reconnect, and we are pleased we can coordinate that for them.”

UPIKE President Burton J. Webb, Ph.D., threw the first pitch in game five of a six-game series between the Lexington Legends and the High Point Rockers from North Carolina. The Legends defeated the Rockers 7-6, with fans enjoying a spectacular fireworks display immediately following the game.

UPIKE alumna Lakia Bailey ‘11 attended the game and was happy for the opportunity to reconnect with friends.

“The alumni event was amazing and I got to see some friends I haven’t seen in years,” said Bailey. “It felt good to fellowship and catch up. I really love these events and I look forward to attending more of these events in the future.”

Alumni events throughout the year provide opportunities for UPIKE graduates to maintain relationships and make valuable connections and are essential in expanding the university’s mission.
