UPIKE alumni and friends gather at The Greenbrier

With America’s Resort as their weekend destination, UPIKE alumni and friends recently enjoyed the activities, iconic décor and first-class amenities that keep visitors flocking to The Greenbrier in Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

UPIKE Alumni Association President Kay Hammond, who helped to organize the weekend trip, said she is already looking forward to next year’s event.

“The Greenbrier is one of those ultimate destinations,” said Hammond. “It has drawn many guests throughout the ages. As we enjoyed life as few know it at The Greenbrier, many of the attendees discussed the importance of UPIKE to our region and what a difference the university has made in our lives. A good time was had by all!”

Weekend guests enjoyed spa services, a bunker tour in the declassified Congressional fallout shelter on the property, afternoon tea and even met one of The Greenbrier’s celebrity employees, Frank Mosley. In his tenure, Mosley has greeted countless celebrities and U.S. presidents during their visits to The Greenbrier.

In addition to a day full of activities, the group enjoyed a five-course, white-glove dinner and historical speaker.

“What an absolutely fantastic event hosted by UPIKE alumni,” said Chad Street, DDS. “As this was our first visit to The Greenbrier, we were amazed at the beauty and history of the grounds. We definitely plan to go again and really enjoyed catching up with UPIKE alumni and friends.”

For one couple, the weekend not only served as a retreat with friends but also an anniversary celebration. Cullen and Ashley Hall said they could not think of a better way to spend an anniversary than with good company at The Greenbrier.

“Celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary amongst new friends at The Greenbrier was perfect,” said Cullen Hall. “We can’t thank UPIKE enough for organizing this unforgettable weekend.”
