University of Pikeville alumni and friends invited to participate in Giving Tuesday Challenge

On December 1, 2020, the University of Pikeville will celebrate Giving Tuesday with its annual UPIKE Giving Tuesday Challenge.

This year’s Giving Tuesday marks the fifth year that UPIKE has participated in the international celebration of philanthropy. The day of giving highlights the achievements of faculty, staff and students across campus, seeks to raise funds for various initiatives and is one of the university’s most successful fundraising efforts.

Join alumni, family and friends by giving online to support a college, athletic team or club/organization on campus. Donate to a college like the Coleman College of Business or an athletic team like men’s and women’s bowling. At the end of the day on December 1, the area with the most funds raised will receive an additional $1,500 donation.

To be part of this important initiative, visit upike.edu/givingtuesday on Tuesday, December 1, and challenge others to participate on social media.

Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to encourage philanthropy and recognize the important role alumni and friends play in supporting future generations of leaders and visionaries through the university. Last year, UPIKE’s Giving Tuesday celebration generated more than $13,000 to benefit several programs.

UPIKE’s Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations David R. Hutchens said the university is very grateful for all the alumni, faculty, staff and friends who, through the years, have chosen to donate during the Giving Tuesday Challenge.

“While this giving day challenge is short, the impact is long and significant for our students. These gifts help freshmen just starting out all the way to students in our graduate programs,” said Hutchens. “Please consider renewing your gift to directly help our students, or please explore giving as a first-time Giving Tuesday donor. All gifts can be designated to a program of your choosing.”

This Giving Tuesday, encourage your friends, family, co-workers and community to join the hundreds of millions of others in celebrating the power of collaboration. Together, Giving Tuesday is no ordinary Tuesday; it’s a day where all Bears and friends can come together and show their collective impact by supporting UPIKE students and campus initiatives, where even a small contribution can make a big difference.
