KYCO Dean named a Distinguished Fellow

Michael Bacigalupi, O.D., M.S., FAAO, dean of the University of Pikeville- Kentucky College of Optometry, has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) in Optometry. Recognized and elected for his dedication to the practice of optometry and achievements in the field, Bacigalupi will help influence national health policy and legislation, while promoting research and quality health care with other outstanding health care leaders across the nation.

“I am honored to be recognized by NAP,” said Bacigalupi. “KYCO’s mission of training optometrists to serve the needs of our region aligns well with NAP’s mission of advancing inter- professional health care by fostering collaboration and advocating policies in the best interest of individuals and communities. I look forward to working alongside so many accomplished and passionate physicians and peers from diverse disciplines.”

As a large-scale health care membership organization, NAP strives to promote the practice of health professionals working across disciplines and professions, as a team, to give the best patient care possible and affect positive change for health care as a whole.

Bacigalupi will be inducted as a Distinguished Fellow at NAP’s annual meeting in March in Pentagon City, Va.
