The University of Pikeville’s (UPIKE) Coleman College of Business will host a Speakers and Leadership Series on Friday, September 16, at 11 a.m. in Booth Auditorium. UPIKE Chairman of the Board of Trustees and alumnus Terry L. Dotson will serve as the featured guest speaker with his presentation, “Noses in, fingers out – Keeping promises and guiding the mission from the outside.”
Dotson serves as president, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board of Worldwide Equipment Enterprises Inc. Worldwide Equipment and its subsidiaries make up one of the largest truck dealerships in the world. Dotson’s vision for the company has increased the number of locations, coverage of franchise representation and variety of services. The company operates 35 locations across six states, including full-service dealerships, parts-only stores, leasing offices, and custom fabrication and detail shops.
Dotson has played an instrumental role in creating the Coleman College of Business, the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Kentucky College of Optometry and is actively involved with UPIKE’s newest exciting endeavor in bringing the third dental school to the commonwealth.
In addition to his business pursuits, Dotson takes great pride in his civic leadership in the surrounding communities and in promoting participation and responsibility to others. Among the list of boards and advisory committees with which he is involved are the Mountain Christian Academy, Christian Appalachian Project, Boy Scouts of America, Floyd County Board of Education and the East Tennessee Walking Horse Association.
Dotson lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, with his wife Judy, and they have two adult children.
The campus and the community are cordially invited to attend the September 16 event. For more information, contact Brenda Maynard, associate professor of business, at (606) 218-5005 or brendamaynard@upike.edu.
