The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) has announced the promotion of Kate Hensley, MBA, to the director of marketing and communications (MarComm) position.
Hensley brings 11 years of dedicated service to UPIKE, where she has established a reputation as a creative, strategic and highly collaborative leader. Most recently serving as interim director of MarComm, Hensley has helped lead creative direction and communications efforts, elevating the university’s brand through innovative design, compelling storytelling and data-informed marketing strategies.
“MarComm’s role at UPIKE has always been to tell meaningful stories of lives changed, and mountains moved through the impact of this university,” Hensley said. “With guidance from university leadership and the talent of our MarComm team, we will continue telling those stories and inspiring others to support our mission.”
In her new role, Hensley will continue to oversee the university’s marketing and communications strategy, including brand management, digital and print communications, and institutional messaging. She will work closely with campus partners to support enrollment initiatives, strengthen engagement and promote the university’s mission.
“Kate’s 11 years of service to UPIKE reflect dedication, creativity, deep institutional knowledge, and a steady, thoughtful leadership style,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Lori Werth, Ph.D. “As Director of MarComm, she will leverage these strengths to elevate our voice and strengthen our connection to the communities we serve.”
Hensley earned a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design and communication from High Point University in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration from UPIKE in 2023. Her appointment reflects the university’s continued investment in leadership development and its commitment to advancing strategic communication efforts across the institution.
