UPIKE Film and Media Arts hosts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers

UPIKE Film and Media Arts (FMA) is proud to be participating in a free online film series with the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. As part of UPIKE’s partnership with South Arts, five independent documentary films will be available online for students, faculty, staff and the community.

The series, which began September 12 with the first film Stateless will continue throughout the fall semester. This year marks the third year of the partnership for UPIKE FMA. Although the screenings have been held in-person on UPIKE’s campus in the past, the pandemic cannot put a damper on this yearly event which is now conveniently streaming online.

“UPIKE has been a proud supporter of the Southern Circuit for the past several years because of the opportunities it provides for our students and community members to interact with independent filmmakers,” said Professor of Film and Media Arts Andrew Reed, MBA, MFA. “While the pandemic has required us to transition to online screenings, we are planning on having several in-person screenings this spring.”

The documentary films showcase emerging independent filmmakers and feature relevant and topical subject matter. Each film will be available for streaming for four days.

Event registration information, film schedule, trailers and film descriptions can be found on the university event calendar at upike.edu.
