Genesia Kilgore-Bowling, Ph.D., MSW, CSW, is serving as the president of the Kentucky Association of Social Work Educators (KASWE) for this academic year. She serves as the social work program director and associate professor of social work at the University of Pikeville.

The KASWE was created to enhance the quality of social work education in Kentucky by facilitating the coordination and linkages of social work education programs from within the state and by promoting a better understanding and communication among social work educators, between social work educators and practitioners, and between social work educators and social work students.  In addition, the KASWE advocates the professional interests of social work educators and of the social work profession.  

The KASWE is made up of social work educators from more than 20 public and private universities across the state.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as president of the Kentucky Association of Social Work Educators. The KASWE provides an opportunity for passionate social work educators to come together to provide each other with support and to share knowledge through engaging in professional development,” said Kilgore-Bowling. “By coordinating and supporting each other, we are able to enrich the experience of social work students across the state, which ultimately improves the social work workforce.”
