A Career in Nursing

A nursing career can mean flexibility in the hours you work, the ability to select an area of nursing in which you can excel and to live in a geographic area you may prefer. A two-year associate degree in nursing (A.D.N.) allows you the foundational education requirements to become a registered nurse (RN) once all state regulations are completed and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) is passed.

The next educational step after an A.D.N. to advance your nursing career may be enrollment in a RN-BSN or higher degree program of nursing. Nursing has educational and career paths to suit most people and has become a career choice for a diverse mix of students.

The University of Pikeville Elliott School of Nursing offers a two-year program associate degree in nursing (A.D.N.) program. The A.D.N. program also permits a licensed practical nurse to earn their A.D.N. in two semesters/one year, once admitted to the LPN-to-RN program of study. The A.D.N. program has full approval status from the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

The Elliott School of Nursing also offers an online nationally accredited RN-BSN program. This program is for RNs only and has separate admission criteria and curriculum.

Come and see how the Elliott School of Nursing can advance your career!
