University of Pikeville film and media arts students Aaron Asbury of Harold, David Chapman of Pikeville, and Adrian Smith of Belfry recently attended the Push! Film Festival in Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee.

During the festival, Andrew Reed, assistant professor of film and media arts, screened two films and his feature length documentary, “I’m with Phil,” earned an award for best documentary film.

“The students had a great time at the festival meeting other filmmakers including Bobby Farrelly, one of the co-directors of “Dumb and Dumber,” “Shallow Hal,” and “There’s Something About Mary,” said Reed.

“We believe this experience will help us improve our own UPIKE film festival which is currently accepting submissions and will be held April 7-8,” said Reed. Asbury and Chapman joined Reed as co-founders of the UPIKE film festival.
