Pikeville, Ky.
Exciting opportunities are awaiting University of Pikeville students this fall including an enhanced first-year studies program for new freshmen.

First-year students will be welcomed to campus during an orientation designed to help them feel at home on campus and meet their classmates as well as UPIKE faculty and staff. Combining old traditions with new beginnings, students will climb the iconic “99” steps and formally become part of the UPIKE family during a first-year pinning ceremony. Additional activities include community service projects, a picnic and open house.

“The University of Pikeville is now registering new freshmen and transfer students,” said Lori Werth, Ph.D., university provost. “Faculty and staff in our academic programs, athletic offerings, student activities and support services look forward to welcoming you into the UPIKE family. It is going to be a great year.”

Students at UPIKE may choose from 26 majors and eight pre-professional programs.

In addition to undergraduate programs, the university offers an MBA, a Teacher Leader master’s degree and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The university recently celebrated a milestone in the school’s 127-year history welcoming the inaugural class of optometry students to campus. The class of 65 students are set to earn their Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degrees in spring 2020.

Open registration for the fall semester at UPIKE will be held Aug. 18-19, from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. The registration process will begin in the Administration Building, ground floor. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 22. Scholarships and financial aid are still available.
