UPIKE business lecture series Nov. 16

UPIKE alumna Michelle Jones will be the featured speaker for the University of Pikeville’s Coleman College of Business Speakers and Leadership Series. Jones will speak on the topic “Becoming a Leader after the 99.” The event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. in Booth Auditorium, Record Memorial Building.

Jones is an executive sales representative at Eli Lilly & Company in Lexington. After graduating from Logan High School in 1995, Jones was recruited to play softball at Pikeville College where she graduated in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. During her time at Pikeville, she played softball for four years and was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Baptist Student Union. In 2005, Jones was inducted into the University of Pikeville Athletics Hall of Fame.

Prior to her career at Eli Lilly & Company, Jones served as a supervisor at an emergency child shelter and an assistant manager at Bank One. Currently she spends her time not only working as a pharmaceutical representative, but also mentoring college students who have an interest in the field. She volunteers with the United Way of the Bluegrass, the American Diabetes Association, Military Missions and the In-Action Project in Logan, W.Va., which serves hundreds of meals to needy families during the Thanksgiving holiday.
