Patton College of Education achieves maximum PRAXIS pass rate

The University of Pikeville-Patton College of Education has announced students in the education program achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the PRAXIS Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test. As part of the certification process, aspiring teachers take state-required PRAXIS tests.

The education majors will begin student teaching in January at elementary, middle and high schools throughout Pike County and Pikeville Independent Schools.

“We are extremely proud of our aspiring teachers and dedicated faculty and staff. These scores are one indicator of the quality of our education programs within the Patton College of Education,” said Coletta Parsley, interim chairperson, Patton College of Education.

UPIKE offers teacher preparation programs that prepare students for eligibility for certification in Kentucky in elementary, middle grades and secondary education. A Teacher Leader Master of Arts in Education is also available and offers personalized professional development and integrated learning opportunities for practicing educators.
