The National Optometric Association (NOA) recently presented the “NOA School of the Year Award” to the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO). Founded in 1969, NOA is committed to insuring comprehensive eye and vision health care and decreasing the health disparity in minority communities as it promotes diversity in vision care providers. KYCO has a parallel mission with NOA as it expects to provide for the underserved in Central Appalachia and other rural areas of the country. KYCO is the first college of optometry to receive the award and not yet have graduated its first class.
