Michael C. Mullins has had his essay “Beautiful Loser” accepted for publication by “Aurora,” a literary and arts magazine published by Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). This will be Mullins’ first publication.

“I was excited when I got the acceptance letter,” said Mullins, an English major from Jenkins. “It was quite an honor. I can’t wait to see my work in the magazine.”

Mullins presented “Beautiful Loser” at the Kentucky Philological Association Convention in Richmond in March. The editor of “Aurora” attended his presentation and invited Mullins to submit his work for consideration.

“I never thought about publishing something I had written,” Mullins said, “but the editors were very complimentary.”

In addition to having his work published in the magazine, Mullins took part in the 2017 Aurora Launch Open Mic party, which was held in the Discovery Classroom of the Noel Studios on the campus of EKU earlier this month. “Beautiful Loser” is scheduled to appear in the Spring 2017 issue of “Aurora.”
