In planning for your 2013 donations and tax credits, remember your Alma Mater. UPIKE students can use more than monetary support. Dear Bear,

Welcome to UPIKENEWS, the official newsletter of the University of Pikeville Alumni Association.

This month's edition celebrates Black History Month, the crownings of Miss UPIKE 2013 and UPIKE's Mountain Laurel Queen candidate, and welcomes the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine's newest Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program members. Recent grad Lisa Trivette talks about how her UPIKE professors prepared her for the rigors of her job, and the UPIKE Alumni Association announces an exciting Caribbean Cruise for March 2014.

As valued alumni, we want to hear about you and include your stories in upcoming issues of the newsletter. Please send us your stories and pictures and help us celebrate our UPIKE alumni. If you have been away from campus for too long, check out the Save the Date section below for upcoming events.
On behalf of the Alumni Association and the University of Pikeville community, Go Bears!

Bill Watson
The End of an Era
Bill Watson

"Since I came to Pikeville nearly two years ago I've met some outstanding people who have become close friends," said Dr. Reginald F. Overton, director of athletics. "Bill Watson is certainly at the top of that list. His dedication to his craft, his humor and his humility are all characteristics we should strive for."

Spiritual Life
Eternal Decisions
"I found that baptism is a very serious step and I wanted to be very thoughtful and intentional about my faith. Just because I was born into a Christian home does not mean that I was following Jesus. I wanted to make this relationship with Jesus a public matter." Codie was then baptized and joined the local church.
