State Programs

The Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, or KHEAA, administers the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES), College Access Program (CAP) the Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG), and the Kentucky Coal County College Completion Program (KC4$).

CAP grants are available to Pell eligible students that are full-time or part-time (the CAP grant will be prorated at part-time enrollment) at a public or private institution. KTG grant is available for only full time students at private schools in the state of KY. The KC4$ grant program assists those students completing a bachelor’s degree who have more than 60 credit hours toward their degree. KHEAA is responsible for the application and administration of this grant.

The general eligibility requirements for state grants are the same as federal programs, the recipient must be a legal resident of Kentucky prior to the year that he or she applies for aid and must not be seeking a degree in religion of theology. Kentucky state grants are time sensitive and deplete very early in the year. It is imperative the student file his/her FAFSA before January 5th each year to be considered for these grants before funds expire.
