What is Title IX?

Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Title IX promotes equity in academic and athletics programs, preventing hostile environments on the basis of sex and sexual misconduct.

The Title IX Coordinator oversees the investigation and resolution of complaints of discrimination, harassment and sexual violence. The Title IX Office also provides training to students, faculty and staff to increase awareness and to help prevent sexual misconduct on campus. Training is also provided to Title IX Investigators, Hearing Panelists, and Appeals Officers to ensure that the investigation and adjudication process protects the parties and promotes accountability.
