Helping Single Parents Pursue Higher Education

We are proud to be a supporter of Scholar House of Central Appalachia Inc. We work directly with the Scholar House to ensure participants who attend our university are connected with the resources single-parent students need to be successful. 

The mission of Scholar House of Central Appalachia is to help end the cycle of poverty by providing single-parent students the resources they need to earn a college degree.  We are able to provide housing, academic advising, family support services, and other resources to participants to help single parent students earn a college degree.

The Scholar House Campus Includes:

  • 45 Multifamily Housing Units
  • Onsite Childhood Early Education Center
  • Academic Service Center
  • Computer Resource Center and Classroom

Single-Parent Students Entering Our Program Must Meet the Following Qualifications:

  • Be a single parent with primary custody of at least one child under the age of 18
  • Meet low-income housing requirements and HUD guidelines for subsidized housing
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have the desire to pursue a college degree
