The Board of Governors of the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) announced that Randy G. Litman, D.O., associate dean for clinical sciences at University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM), achieved the designation of Fellow of the American Academy of Osteopathy (FAAO). Litman is one of 84 physicians nationwide who currently hold this earned degree. AAO President Jane E. Carreiro, D.O., conferred the honor upon him at the President’s Banquet during the annual AAO Convocation in Louisville, Ky.
Litman is a 1988 graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center, in Allentown, Pa., where he was recognized for excellence in women’s health. He continued his postdoctoral studies at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, Pa., where he was named chief internal medicine resident. Litman is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
Litman served as associate professor and chair in the osteopathic principles and practices department at KYCOM prior to becoming associate dean for clinical sciences. Before entering into academia full-time in 2004, he was in private practice near Philadelphia, Pa., and served part-time on the faculties of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Jefferson Medical College, LaSalle University School of Nursing and Villanova University School of Nursing. Litman completed the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Health Policy Fellowship, designed for individuals who are preparing for leadership roles in the osteopathic profession and positions of influence in health policy in 2010 and received the Fellows Award from the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians during the same year. He was inducted into the AOA Mentor Hall of Fame in 2007 and is the two-time recipient of the Clinical Faculty of the Year Award and the Student Advocates Association Physician Faculty Award at KYCOM.
