PIKEVILLE, KY
Douglas Lange, a native of Texas, has been named vice president for finance and business affairs at Pikeville College.
Before coming to Pikeville, Lange served as vice president for business affairs at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.
“Doug Lange has extensive experience in finance, particularly in higher education,” said Pikeville College President, Paul E. Patton. “His knowledge and expertise in business management, operations and human resources will be instrumental in helping us advance the institution as we move forward. We are happy to welcome Doug, along with his wife, Lisa, to our campus family and community.”
Lange earned his bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University and an MBA from Angelo State University. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the American Institute of Plant Engineers. Early in his career, he held leadership positions in facilities management at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., Angelo State University in San Angelo, Tex., and Cumberland County Schools in Fayetteville, N.C.
A U.S. Army engineer, Lange served on active duty for 11 years and was in the Army’s active reserves for 18 years, retiring at the rank of colonel. His distinguished military career includes service in Operation Desert Shield, Kosovo and Afghanistan.
“I was drawn to Pikeville College because of its mission to bring higher education to Appalachia,” said Lange. “I don’t fit in at big institutions. I fit in where we can directly see the impact we have on our students and their families. Pikeville College is poised to transform itself and capitalize on its mission and I want to be a part of that exciting transformation.”
