Boyd R. Buser, D.O., FACOFP, was the lead author on the article, Single Accreditation System Update: Gaining Momentum, recently published by The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association. Buser is the vice president for health affairs and dean of the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine and served as the 2016-2017 president of the American Osteopathic Association.

In July 2014, the American Osteopathic Association House of Delegates endorsed the establishment of a new, single graduate medical education accreditation system in collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Buser’s article provides information regarding the osteopathic medical community’s substantial headway in the transition to the new system.

“I’m very pleased with the progress that has been made over the first two years of our five-year process in creating a unified system for the accreditation of residency training programs in the United States,” said Buser.
