Celebrate Religious Emphasis Week with UPIKE

November 09, 2011 12:00 AM
PIKEVILLE, KY.
The University of Pikeville invites you to “Worship on the Hill” during Religious Emphasis Week 2011.

The community-wide service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. in Booth Auditorium located in Record Memorial Building, level five. The campus and community are cordially invited to attend.

University of Pikeville alumnus and Athletic Hall of Fame honoree Jody Thompson will be presenting the message, with music provided by the University’s choir, under the direction of Janean Freeman, assistant professor of music. The University’s ROTC program will present the colors.

Several area youth ministers will join the campus family in celebrating Religious Emphasis Week, including Chris Fields of Penny Road Community Church, UPIKE alumnus John Lucas of the First Baptist Church of Pikeville and Chris Bartley, Pikeville United Methodist Church.

“The University of Pikeville was founded by Presbyterians and Religious Emphasis Week has become a tradition here,” said Ron Damron, vice president for Student Services. “This year, we’re excited that so many churches in our community will be joining us in celebrating our Christian heritage.”

The community is cordially invited to attend Religious Emphasis Week events. For more information, contact the Office of Public Affairs at 218-5270.
