Expressions from the Mountains

PURPOSE:  Come one, come all and celebrate the artwork of area artists.  The Weber Gallery and the Art faculty of The University of Pikeville invite both professional and student artists to show off their creativity.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all artists 16 years of age or older.  (Artists younger than 18 will be asked to have a parent or guardian sign off on the inventory card.)  The theme of all artworks submitted should pertain to the artist’s interpretation of “Expressions from the Mountains”.
 
ENTRIES:  All entries must be original works of art by the artist.  (Artworks may not be copies or photographs of another artwork).
 
ENTRY FEE:  None, but each artist may only submit a total of two entries.
 
SPECIFICATIONS: All 2-D works on paper, including photography, should be matted, mounted and ready to hang.  Paintings must be strip framed or gallery wrapped and painted.  2D works should be no larger than 5 ft. x 5 ft.   Paintings must be dry when submitted.  Paintings or framed artwork must be ready for hanging (complete with wire and screw eyes).  Work not installation ready will not be exhibited.
All 3D works must be under 50 lbs. and no larger than 3 ft. in any direction.  Please note that pedestals for the gallery are limited in both size and number. 
 
NOTE: Work requiring special installation must be installed with the artist’s assistance.  Special arrangements for the installation/de-installation of these works must be arranged by the artist with gallery staff.
 
Acceptable artwork is limited to what can be displayed professionally in Weber Gallery or on the gallery walls of Weber Gallery. The University of Pikeville Art faculty reserves the right to exclude any item deemed inappropriate or exceeding available space for exhibition.
 
PUBLICITY:  When artists are submitting their work, they will be asked to sign a consent form allowing the University of Pikeville (UPIKE) to possibly use and/or publish images of the artwork(s) created on the University’s Website and/or in the University’s promotional materials.  Images (digital or film) of the artwork may taken by the University for documentation record, to post to an on-line gallery, catalogue, publicity/promotional materials and/or educational purposes.

Artists will be notified by email if artwork has been declined. Declined Art Work may be picked up:

Return of artwork:
Artists may pick up their work after the exhibition closes through December 2, 4-9, 2017.  Please contact either Patricia Kowalok (Patriciakowalok@upike.edu) or Petra Carroll (Petracarroll@upike.edu) to make an appointment for pick-up of art work.
 
ALL WORK MUST BE CLAIMED BY December 9, 2017 ANY WORK REMAINING AFTER THIS DATE WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE.
