Scholarship Guidelines

  Appalachian Honor Alumni Presidential Trustee Commonwealth
ACT required for scholarships 16-18 19-21 22-24 25-27 28-30 31 or higher

  • All applicants must submit a completed application, high school/college transcripts, and ACT/SAT scores.
  • All applicants must complete the FAFSA (priority deadline is January 31). Students will be required to complete a new FAFSA each year.
  • The University of Pikeville will offer a need-based adjustment to the academic scholarship up to $2,000 to those Kentucky resident students who are not Pell
  • eligible and have an EFC in the range of $5,750 - $16,250.
  • Incoming transfer students admitted as freshmen will be granted a scholarship based on their highest ACT score. Transfer students being admitted at a grade
  • classification above freshman will be granted a scholarship based on their college GPA.
  • Athletic scholarships are in addition to academic scholarships and are determined by the coach of each sport.
In addition to the above University of Pikeville institutional scholarships, students may be eligible for the following federal and state grants or loans:
Federal aid eligibility based on FAFSA results:
  • Federal Pell grants up to $5,550 annually.
  • Federal work study based on need and interest.
  • Federal loans.
Kentucky resident students:
  • KEES scholarship up to $2,500 based on student’s academic achievements in high school.
  • CAP grant (10-11 amount of $1,900) based on FAFSA eligibility for Pell and state funding availability.
  • KTG grant (10-11 amount of $2,964) based on need and student’s status as a full-time or part-time student.
Notes: In order to assure students receive the Kentucky state grants, the student must file the FAFSA by January 15. If taxes are incomplete, the FAFSA can be filed as a “will file.” The University of Pikeville will calculate the total federal, state and institutional aid for which they are eligible once the FAFSA results are received. Institutional scholarships are not based on FAFSA results. Total financial aid may not exceed total cost of attendance. Institutional scholarship are scholarship funded by the University of Pikeville and its donors.
