Academic Assistance Program

The University of Pikeville Academic Assistance Program provides peer tutoring services to all University of Pikeville students. The Program is located in the basement of the Allara Library and is open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. All tutoring is on a drop-in basis, and academic services are free to students at the University.  For more information or to check availability for a specific content area, contact Libby Shockey at 606-218-5328 or ElizabethShockey@upike.edu.

Applying to be a tutor

Students interested in working as Academic Assistants can contact Libby Shockey at the address above. To assist students in any campus course, Academic Assistants must have taken and passed the course with a grade of A or B. They must also be responsible and dependable and be willing to interact with other students. All Academic Assistants are required to participate in periodic training sessions. Hours per week of service depends on amount of Federal Work Study money awarded to students and/or availability of institutional funds.
