Transferring To Pikeville From KCTCS
In order to assist students in transferring to the University of Pikeville from any of the colleges of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS), a Course Equivalency Guide and Transfer Guides in Biology, Business, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, English, Middle Grades Education, Psychology and Social Work may be viewed by clicking the appropriate link below. The Course Equivalency Guide provides course by course equivalency and the Transfer Guides allow students to plan what courses will transfer to the University of Pikeville from KCTCS in a particular major. Course equivalencies are determined by the Registrar, Dean of the University and/or Major Coordinator at the University of Pikeville. Upon receipt of official transcripts, the University will make every effort to inform students of the amount of credit that will transfer prior to enrollment, but no later than the end of the first term of enrollment. Credit will be granted only for courses with a grade of ‘C’ or above that are comparable to those taught at the University of Pikeville and/or that are compatible with a liberal arts education. Credit is not granted for development courses. A notation of “P” and the credit hours transferring are recorded on the University of Pikeville transcript; grade-point averages and quality points are not recorded.
Transfer students are required to complete all the stated requirements for the degree to be received. Sixty (60) hours must be earned at a four-year institution; the last thiry (30) credit hours prior to graduation must be earned at the University of Pikeville. At least 50% of the credit hours required in the major and/or minor and a total of 25% of the credit hours toward the degree must be earned at the University of Pikeville. In order to be considered for honors at the time of commencement, a student must have completed a minimum of sixty (60) hours at the University of Pikeville.
Students will be governed by the transfer policies outlined in the University of Pikeville catalog at the time of their enrollment at the University of Pikeville. Course offerings and academic regulations are accurate at the date of the publication of the University of Pikeville catalog, but are subject to change as deemed appropriate by the University of Pikeville in order to fulfill its mission or to accommodate circumstances beyond its control. Any such changes may be implemented without prior notice and without obligation and, unless otherwise specified, are effective when made.
